Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Bowers Funeral Home Obituaries C. W. (Al) Allison (August 29, 1923 - February 16, 2008) C. W. (Al) Allison U.S. Veteran Funeral services for Mr. C. W. Allison were held on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at 2:00p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home. Bro. Richard Williams and Mr. Scott Bossier officiated. Interment followed the services at Union Cemetery near Freestone. Mr. Allison was born and raised in Freestone and attended the Freestone School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart for being wounded in combat. He married Billie on July 27, 1946. He worked for many years as a butcher for Safeway and was also a horse and mule trader. One of his proudest accomplishments was being one of only ten people to ride the three thousand three hundred and sixty- three mile wagon trail ride taking six months around the State of Texas in 1986 as part of the Texas Sesquicentennial Celebration. He was famous for his team of mules and his wagons and often volunteered his time giving wagon rides for numerous community organizations. When not driving his mule team, Mr. Allison was a steadfast Ford driver. He was a very loving and caring person and his family was everything to him. Mr. Allison was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Allison passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2008, in an automobile accident near Teague. He is survived by, his wife of over sixty-one years, Billie Allison of Teague; three sons, Allen Allison of Teague, Dale Allison & wife Donna, and Cal (Bimbo) Allison & wife LaJean all of Freestone; two daughters, Vikkie Williams & husband, Dwain (Slokum) of Freestone, and Dawn Wetterman & husband James of Teague; grandchildren, Tina & husband Russell, Ricky, Michael, Robert, Kasey, Angie, Becky & husband Jeff, Josh, Jesika, Justin, Dustin & wife Nina, Nichole, Trey & wife Tina, Eva, Keri, Gentry & husband Andy, Megan, Brittney, Amanda, and Kelly; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Callie Ferguson of Waco, and Lois Roberts of Irving; a special nephew, Albert Lee Allison of Teague; numerous other nephews & nieces, other relatives & many friends. ========================== Waco Tribune-Herald (TX) - February 19, 2008 Deceased Name: Allison, C.W. - 84 C.W.
