Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder newspaper Troy LaRue Allison Funeral services were held last week for Troy LaRue Allison, 84, of Teague who died Sunday, March 16 at the Fairfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Allison was born in Mexia on Sept. 3, 1923. In 1941, she graduated from Mexia high school and in 1942 she married William Donivan Allison. Mrs. Allison served as chairperson for the American Red Cross and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Teague for 56 years. As a member, she participated in many church functions and taught Sunday School. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, at the First Baptist Church in Teague with Darrel Beggs officiating. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Allison is survived by daughter Donna Williams and husband Mike of Rockwall; sons Bill Allison and wife Sue; and Joe Allison and wife Ruthie, all of Teague; grandchildren Jocey McCoy and husband Jeff of Prosper, Lindsey Williams and wife Pamela of Rockwall, Todd Allison and wife Monica of Teague, Rachel Anderson and husband Doug of Teague, Matt Allison of College Station, Troy Allison of Teague, and Hayley Allison of Paducah, Kentucky; step- grandchildren Asa Hanrahan of Houston, Vicky Cearley of Choctaw, Oklahoma, and Tony Vaughn and wife Brittany of Teague; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Helen Russ of Houston and Betty Bernice Fuller of Corsicana; brother, W. L. "Dub" Lindsey and wife Margaret of Teague; special friends, Fran Rogers, Joy Crundwell, and Maxine Hartley, all of Teague. Mrs. Allison was preceded in death by husband Don Allison; granddaughter Melissa Williams Cooke; sister Winnie Louise Free; and brother Jack Johnson. Mrs. Allison was born on September 3, 1923, in Mexia, Texas and passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2008, at the Fairfield Rehabilitation Center in Fairfield, Texas. She was raised in Mexia and graduated from Mexia High School in the class of 1941. She married William Donivan (Don) Allison in 1942 when they moved to Teague and her husband went to work for the B-RI Railroad. Mrs. Allison gave birth to a daughter in 1943 followed by a son the next year and another son the next year. She had three children after three years and one day of her marriage. She shared over forty-four years with her husband before being separated by his death on January 13, 1987. Mrs. Allison served as chairperson of the Red Cross Drive in the 1950’s and was proud to have helped raise a large amount of money for the Red Cross. She was an avid reader. Mrs. Allison was a member of First Baptist Church in Teague for fifty-six years and taught Sunday school and was active in many church functions throughout the years.
