Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Doris Jean (Curry) Anderson Doris Jean Anderson, 87, of Fairfield, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at The Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Capps Memorial Chapel with Rev. Terry Skinner officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at Capps Memorial Chapel. Pallbearers will be Tom Anderson, Jimmy Anderson, Don Anderson, Tom O’Connor, Kenny Voiles and Doug Curry. Honorary bearers are Rodney Sweet, George Sweet, Blayne Curry, Ryan Reilly and Drew Lewis. Mrs. Anderson was born July 12, 1925 in Limestone County; to parents Roy L. and Wilma Jennings Curry. She married Jesse Franklin (Frank) Anderson on July 12, 1946 and moved to Fairfield where Frank lived. He preceded her in death on February 10, 1970. On March 1, 1949 she went to work for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture in the Freestone County ASCS office and retired after 35 years on September 30, 1984. She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of the Wilbur H. Bailey VFW Post 5872 in Fairfield. Doris was famous for her contribution of homemade candy enjoyed by her family during the holidays. Family vacations were also enjoyable and remembered occasions. She loved to crochet and the family cherished the beautiful table cloths and afghans she created for family members. In addition to her husband and parents she was also preceded in death by a brother, R. L. Curry. Left to cherish her memory is a sister, Pauline F. Sweet of Sparks, NV; a brother, Ralph W. Curry and wife Thelma of Fairfield; a sister-in-law, Ann Curry of Waco and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all of her family, friends, nieces and nephews.
