Mrs. Violet (Richardson) Bailey 
(April 10, 1920 - December 19, 2009) 


Violet Bailey
Funeral services for Mrs. Violet Bailey were held on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, 
at 1:00p.m. at First Baptist Church in Donie. Bro. Benny Mize officiated. 
Interment followed the services at 3:00p.m. in Madisonville at Madisonville City 
Cemetery.

Mrs. Bailey passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2009, in Georgetown. She was 
born to John W. and Emily Hancock Richardson on April 10, 1920 in Donie and 
lived there most of her life. She graduated valedictorian of her class at Donie 
High School and went on to earn a Bachelors Degree from Sam Houston Teachers 
College. She married Webb I. Bailey, Sr. on January 19, 1947 and shared some 
forty-four years together before being separated by his death in 1991. Mrs. 
Bailey taught elementary school in Madisonville and Angleton for several years 
and was a longtime member of the Texas State Teachers Association. In her 
leisure time, she enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. Mrs. Bailey was a 
longtime member of First Baptist Church in Donie and taught Sunday School there 
and in Angleton for many years. She is survived by one son, Webb I. Bailey, Jr. 
of Round Rock; two brothers, Grover Richardson & wife Jessie Ruth of Selmer, 
Tennessee and Pat Richardson of Denver, Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews, 
cousins, and friends. Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by an infant son, John 
Stanley Bailey; her husband, her parents, one sister, and two brothers.
