Freestone County, Texas Obits Fairfield Recorder - Thursday March 09, 2006 edition R. C. Baker R. C. "Duff" Baker of Buffalo died Sunday [05 Mar 2006] at the age of 78 at Methodist Hospital in Houston. Mr. Baker was born in Angelina county on August 15, 1927 and had lived in Houston until moving to Buffalo in 1989. He was employed as a foreman for Ethyl Corp., was a member of Buffalo Lodge No. 554; past master of Goose Creek No. 1191; past master of Scottish Rite in Houston; York Rite Houston; Houston Shrine; EOS and past district deputy Masonic district No. 24. He served in the United States Army Air Corps as a corporal and was a member of Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Jerry Anderson officiating. Interment followed at Fort Parker Cemetery in Groesbeck. Mr. Baker is survived by his wife Virginia Baker of Buffalo; son Michael "Duff" Baker of Buffalo and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Franklin Baker and Annie E. Foster Baker. Pallbearers were Dale Holder, Ray Steelman, Bubba Lipsey, Gary Fincher, Craig Graham and Gary Helmcamp. Honorary pallbearers were Don Summers, Don Ballard, Bill Recknor, Coug Chestnut and Durwod Bottoms. Arrangements were by Memorial Funeral Home of Buffalo.
