Raymond Banks 

Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Allen Chapel AME Church. Burial: Avant Cemetery.
Family hour: 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gregory W. Spencer Funeral Directors.

Raymond Banks was born Aug. 1, 1922, in Teague. He received a degree in 
education from Wiley College. He was a military veteran and had worked in the 
service department of Charlie Hillard Ford Co., Ryno Mazda and General 
Dynamics. He was a steward and in the Male Chorus at Allen Chapel AME Church.

Mr. Banks was preceded in death by his wife, Corine Banks; four sons; one 
daughter; and his parents, Waymon and Ella Peterson Banks.

Survivors: Wife, Margaret Banks; six sons, Lawrence Ferrell of Houston and 
Raymond Banks, Marvin Banks, Patrick Banks, Gregory Lamont Banks and Alonzo
Williams Banks; daughter, Janett Carter; stepson, Christopher Timms; four 
stepdaughters, Barbara Timms, Tanya Timms, Carla Timms and Alexis Shanks 
Thompson; four brothers, the Rev. Hodge Banks of Dallas, James Banks, Grady 
Banks and Lee Banks; sister, Annie C. Johnson; 40 grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
