Donna Rae (Howard) Barber

Donna Rae Barber, 69, of Oakwood, passed away Friday, August 2, 2013 in 
Palestine.  Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013 at
Capps Memorial Chapel with Bro. Don Suits, II, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church 
officiating.

Mrs. Barber was born June 17, 1944 in Dallas; to parents Don Ray and Dorothy 
Pearl Gentry Howard.  She had been a Freestone County resident for 40 years and 
worked as a waitress at the former Bellah’s Restaurant in Fairfield.  She 
married Carl E. Barber on February 14, 1998 and he preceded her in death in 2005.  
She was a Baptist.  In addition to her husband and parents she was also preceded 
in death by a great-grandson, Blake Shayne Musick.

Left to cherish her memory are four children, Valerie Tarrant and husband Burl 
of Fairfield; Vanessa Killough and husband James W. of Oakwood; Van C. (Chris) 
Kocher and wife Ida of Jewett; Victor Wayne Kocher of Nacogdoches; three sisters, 
Doris Howard and Darlene Sullivan both of Garland; Deeloyce (DeeDee) Howard of 
Fairfield; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
