Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Nancy Ellen Barnes February 9, 1928 to August 17, 2013 Nancy Ellen Barnes, 85, of Fairfield, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 in Fairfield. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2013 at First Baptist Church. Funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at First Baptist Church. Mrs. Barnes was born February 9, 1928 in Skidmore, Missouri; to parents Wiley Kent and Jessie D. McClain Zook. She was married to Walter Cecil Barnes and in 1957 they moved to Fairfield. Mr. Barnes preceded her in death in 1975. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church where for many years she was the church pianist and organist. She also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Barnes taught piano at her home for many years and following the death of her husband worked in medical records at Fairfield Memorial Hospital and retired as department head. One of her greatest pleasures was going to the pasture in the evening with Mr. Barnes to check on their cattle. Left to cherish her memory are two children, David Wiley Barnes, Sr. and wife Elizabeth of Fairfield; Marilu Eppes and husband Dennis of Teague; six grandchildren, Nancy Elizabeth (Beth) Barnes; David Wiley Barnes, Jr. and wife Crystal; Brandy Denise Eppes; Heather Renee Eppes Ellis and husband Chris; Jennifer Leigh Eppes; Shaun Aaron Morse,and wife Janie; seven great-grandchildren, Travis Lynn Barnes; Madeline Grace Barnes; Alexis Gonzales; Dominic Gonzales; Max Gonzales; Aidan Wainbright; Mason Ellis.
