Melissa Diane Barrentine

Funeral services for Melissa Diane Barrentine will be held on Sunday, September 
7, 2014, at 2:00p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Scott Matthews will 
officiate. Interment will follow the services at Driver Cemetery near Teague.

Visitation will be held on Saturday with the family present from 6:00p.m. until 
8:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Melissa passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014, at East Texas Medical Center 
in Fairfield. She was born in Leland, Mississippi and grew up in Bryan before 
moving to Teague where she graduated with the Teague High School class of 1996 
and was a proud member of the Lady Lions softball team. Melissa worked at 
Woodforest Bank in Walmart in Mexia for over seven years and was presently 
assistant manager. She was a Baptist and a member of the Order of Eastern Star 
#331 in Fairfield.

She is survived by two children, Ashleigh Barrentine and Nicholas Barrentine; 
special nephew, Mikal West; parents, Herbert Sr. & Dianne Barrentine; sister, 
Crystal Swanson & husband Roddie; brother, Herbert Barrentine, Jr.; paternal 
grandmother, Jetty Barrentine, all of Teague; maternal grandmother, Opal Gordon 
of Cleveland, Mississippi; two uncles, James Barrentine Jr. & wife Ida of Teague, 
and David Gordon & wife Natalie of Iola; three aunts, Kathy Steed & husband 
Garland of Teague, Sheila Coleman & husband Henry of Bryan, and Cindy Ielati & 
husband Tony of Corpus Christi; cousins, Angelo Ielati, Vito Ielati, Maria Ielati, 
James Barrentine III, Jenna Smith, J.T. Barrentine, James Coleman, Shawn Coleman, 
Heather Paniagua, Jake Steed, Jade Steed, Gracie McCleney, Clay Gordon, William 
Gordon, Dalton Gordon, Byron Gordon, Samuel Ielati, Traven Ielati, Jade Kiser, 
Jason Kiser, Zane Ielati, and Mia Ielati; and many friends.

Melissa was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, James Barrentine, Sr.; 
maternal grandfather, Frank Gordon; and one aunt, Sandra Gale Triplett.
