Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Teague Chronicle August 16, 2007 RUBY J. BEASLEY Ms. Ruby J. Beasley of Mexia, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2007, in Denton, Texas. She was 80 years old. Ms. Beasley was born in Mexia, Texas and also lived in Pflugerville and Denton, Texas. She was a retired educator with the Mexia I.S.D. and Mexia State School. Ms. Beasley attended Mexia Public Schools and received her B.S. in Secondary Education at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. She did her graduate work at Bishop College and Prairie View University. Ms. Beasley was a Charter Member of Mexia League of Involved Women, Limestone County Branch NAACP, Dunbar- Douglas Alumni Association, Dunbar High School Band Boosters, Girl Scout Troop Leader, Dunbar-Douglas Teacher Hall of Fame, Limestone County Retired Teachers Association, and Vacation Bible School Coordinator. Ms. Beasley was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Mexia and affiliate member of St. James AME Church in Denton, Texas. She was on the Mexia City-Wide Usher Board and the Missionary Society. Funeral services for Ms. Beasley were held on Saturday, August 11, 2007, at First United Methodist Church in Mexia, Texas. Rev. Cleo High, Pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in Mexia officiated and Rev. Dr. Sherryl A. Matlock, Pastor of St. James AME Church in Denton, Texas was the Eulogist. Interment was at Mexia Memorial Cemetery. Casket bearers were Tommy Dawkins, Milton Morgan, Jr., David Echols, Jr., Rev. Randell Forge, Lynn Harper and Min. Ricky Washington. Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home of Teague was in charge of the arrangements.
