Mexia Daily News - Nov. 4, 2003 edition Clifton Beene Clifton Beene, 89, a lifelong Mexia resident, died Sunday in Parkview Regional Hospital. He was born in Mexia on Dec. 18, 1913, and was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Belle Beene, in 1999. They were married on Nov. 13, 1937. Mr. Beene, who farmed and was a retired employee of Mexia State School, also worked at Western Auto Associate Store for about 10 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and until his health prevented him from doing so, he always had a large garden at his home on North Ross Avenue. Visitation is scheduled for this evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Beene will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Calvary Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. James Hooper, a former pastor at Calvary and current pastor of First Baptist Church of Hubbard; and the Rev. Rick Gray, current pastor at Calvary. Burial will be in Mexia Cemetery, under direction of Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Sharon Beene fo Fairfield, Jack and Gayle Beene of Diboll, Bobby and Faye Beene of Cleburne; a brother, G.H. Beene, Jr., of Houston; two sisters, Ruth East of Mexia and Louise Cundieff of LaGrange; 13 grandchildren - Donnie and Stacy Beene of Allen, Sandra and Barry Choate of Athens, Scott and Kim Beene of Poyner, Susan and John Hadley of Arlington, Stephen and Carla Beene of Coppell, Kim LoDico of Cleburne, Karen and Chris Bullard of Cleburne; and 10 great-grandchildren - Sarah and Tyler Bullard, Clay and Cole Hadley, Hunter and Tanner Choate, Lindsey LoDico, Brice Beene, Peyton and McKenna Beene. Pallbearers are Donnie Beene, Scott Beene, John Hadley, Barry Choate, Chris Bullard, Stephen Beene, Dan Beene and Bill Beene.
