Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder March 02, 2008 Sadie Mae Belcher Funeral services were held last weekend for Sadie Mae Belcher, 92, of Mexia who died Friday, Feb. 15, at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. Mrs. Belcher was born in Mexia on April 12, 1915 to parents Joe Willie Brewer and Susie Brown. She attended school in Tehuacana and married Lucas Belcher. Together they had nine children. Mrs. Belcher was a member of Union Baptist Church where she served as president of the women's mission, president of the choir, and "Mother of the Church." Services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Louis Brown officiating. Mrs. Belcher is survived by daughters Mozell Campbells and husband Sam of St. Louis, Missouri, Pauline Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, Patricia Walker of Dallas, and Luciana Henderson and husband James of Mexia; sons Willie Clyde Belcher and wife Edna of Mexia, Lucas Belcher, Jr. and wife Ella of Mexia; Norman Belcher of Houston, and Billy Fred Belcher of Houston; 15 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and two nieces. She is preceded in death by parents Joe Willie Brewer and Susie Brown; daughters Jeanelle Belcher and Sadie Miller; and sister Lucille Lewis.
