Sadie Mae Belcher

Funeral services were held last weekend for Sadie Mae Belcher, 92, of Mexia who
died Friday, Feb. 15, at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco.

Mrs. Belcher was born in Mexia on April 12, 1915 to parents Joe Willie Brewer 
and Susie Brown.

She attended school in Tehuacana and married Lucas Belcher.

Together they had nine children.

Mrs. Belcher was a member of Union Baptist Church where she served as president
of the women's mission, president of the choir, and "Mother of the Church."

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Union Baptist Church with
Rev. Louis Brown officiating.

Mrs. Belcher is survived by daughters Mozell Campbells and husband Sam of St. 
Louis, Missouri, Pauline Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, Patricia Walker of 
Dallas, and Luciana Henderson and husband James of Mexia; sons Willie Clyde 
Belcher and wife Edna of Mexia, Lucas Belcher, Jr. and wife Ella of Mexia; 
Norman Belcher of Houston, and Billy Fred Belcher of Houston; 15 grandchildren;
34 great grandchildren; and two nieces.

She is preceded in death by parents Joe Willie Brewer and Susie Brown; 
daughters Jeanelle Belcher and Sadie Miller; and sister Lucille Lewis.

Sadie Belcher

Mrs. Sadie Belcher of Mexia, Texas passed away on February 15, 2008, at the 
Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, Waco surrounded by her beloved and devoted 
family. Viewing will begin at the Funeral Home on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 
10:00 AM - 7:00 PM. The family will be present from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

Funeral Services were held at the Union Baptist Church 207 S. Denton at 11 a.m.
on Saturday, February 23, 2008, where Rev. Elizabeth Jones is pastor and Rev. 
Louis Brown will be officiating. Interment will be in the Wortham Cemetery.

Mrs. Belcher was born in Mexia, Texas and attended school in Tehuacana, Tx. She
married Gather Sutton and they had one child. Later she married Lucas Belcher 
and they had nine children.

Mrs. Belcher joined Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor S. A.
Windfield. At Union Baptist, she was appointed President of the Women’s Mission,
served as Choir President and “Mother Of The Church.”

Mrs. Belcher was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Willie Brewer and Susie 
Brown, two children: Jeanelle Belcher and Sadie Miller and a sister: Lucille 
Lewis. She is survived by: Four daughters: Mozell Campbells and husband, Sam 
and Pauline Johnson, all of St. Louis, MO; Patricia Walker, Dallas, TX; and
Luciana Henderson and husband, James, Mexia, TX; Four sons: Willie Clyde 
Belcher and wife, Edna and Lucas Belcher, Jr and wife, Ella, all of Mexia; 
Norman Belcher and Billy Fred Belcher both of Houston, TX; Fifteen 
grandchildren, Thirty-Four Great-Grandchildren; two nieces and other relatives 
and friends.

Belcher Family.
