Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Mexia Daily News February 19, 2002 Marguerite Bendy TEAGUE - Funeral services for Mrs. Marguerite Cox Bendy, 84, of Teague, will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock in First United Methodist Church; officiating will be the Rev. Charles Jordan, pastor. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, under direction of Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home of Teague. Mrs. Bendy, a longtime resident of Teague, graduated from Mexia High School and attended Westminster College in Tehuacana. She and her husband were owners of the N.W. Bendy Company and dry goods store in Teague. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, to which family requests Memorials be made. Mrs. Bendy, born in Mexia on March 28, 1917, died Sunday evening in Mexia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Maude Eubanks Cox; by a sister, Hazel Cox Earl, and by six brothers, Loman Cox, Ray Cox, Hobart Cox, Butch Cox, Donald Cox and Ty Cox. Surviving are her husband, Allen Bendy of Teague, to whom she was married on Dec. 15, 1938; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald N. and Sandy Bendy of Eagle Lake; two grandsons, Kevin A. Bendy and wife Gretchen, and Keith D. Bendy; and a great-granddaughter, Avery Dean Bendy.
