Elmer Black

Elmer Black, age 86, of Groesbeck, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2004.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 9, at the Groesbeck Funeral Home
Chapelwith Rev. Tracy Sims officiating. Burial followed in the Lost Prairie
Cemetery. Elmer was born on June 1, 1918 in Axtell, Texas to Daniel Black and
Polly (Hinson) Black. He served in the United States Navy (Note: This should be
the Army according to Vannoy Black) during WWII. Elmer married Earlene (Harper)
on June 1, 1975 in Groesbeck. He was proceded in death by two sons, one
daughter and three grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Earlene Black of
Groesbeck; son, Larry Black and wife Linda of Mexia; stepson, Ronnie Fritz and
wife Ginger of Groesbeck; brother, J.R. Black of Bellmead; eight grandchildren
and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jamie Harris, Dwain Popejoy,
Kenneth Wilson,, John Dean Easley, John Banks Campbell, and Herbert Gene
Wilson. Honarary pallbearer was James McDonald.
