Freestone County, Texas Obituaries (Submitted by Mike Pruitt on 16 May 2006) Mexia Daily News Obituary notice dated Nov. 18, 1997: [Death date: Nov 17, 1997] Julie Eunice (Little) Black Funeral services for Mrs. Julie Eunice (Little) Black, 80, of Mexia will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 in Blair-Stubbs Chapel, officating will be Dr. Bob Messer, pastor of First United Methodist Church of which she was a member. Burial in Mexia Cemetery. Mrs. Black , a homemaker, retired from Mexia State School where she had been employed for 23 years as a ward attendant. She was born in LaSalle on June 17, 1917and died Monday morning at 1:50 at her residence. Survivors are a son, George Wayne Black of Mexia, two grandchildren, Leigh Black of Soledad, Calif., and Charles Brandon Black of Mexia and four sisters, Pauline Callway of Round Rock, Joy Baldwin of Fairfield, Vera Hyden of Ontario, Calif. and Josie Webb of Tehuacana. Mrs. Black was proceded in death by her husband, Elijah Woods, a former Limestone County Commisioner who died in 1994 and by a son, Douglas Dean Black, in 1963 and by a grandson-Kenneth Black in 1992. Pallbearers are Billy Archibald, Henry Exum, Kelly Isbell, Donnie Webb, Gene Mackey, and John Earl Dick.
