Freestone County, Texas Obituaries (Submitted by Mike Pruitt on 16 May 2006) Mexia Daily News newspaper - dated July 10, 1966: [Death Date: Jul 08, 1966] Lathie Ester (Weldon) Black Funeral services wil be held at the Ross Avenue Church of Christ in Mexia Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock for Mrs. Lathie Ester (Weldon) Black, 72, who died Friday morning in New Orleans at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B.N. Angelico The services will be conducted by Mr. Boyd Denman, minister of the Ross Ave. Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Wortham cemetery with the Riddle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Black was born in Freestone County near the Currie community on June 26, 1894. She lived in Limestone County almost all her life and had been undergoing medical treatment in New Orleans for the past 15 months. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Besides her husband, Lee Black, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Dee (Faira) Black, of Mexia, Mrs. Clyde Stubbs, of Bowie, and Mrs. Ruth Murphy, of Wortham, and two brothers, Millard Weldon, of Big Springs, and Tom Weldon, of Cleburne.
