Dr. Ben F. Blackmon, of Winkler, Navarro County, formerly a resident of 
Fairfield died last Friday, Aug. 31st, aged 64. Dr. B. once represented 
Navarro county in the Legislature; he was a good physician, a thorough-going 
progressive citizen, and a high toned gentleman, esteemed by a host of 
friends. He had been in bad health several years and his death was not 
unexpected to his friends. The deceased was an elder brother of Mr. W. M. 
Blackmon, an old citizen of this county who lives a few miles southeast of 
Fairfield.
