Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder - May 20, 2007 edition Dan Bloxom Funeral services were held Saturday, May 12 in Teague for Dan Bloxom, 85, of Fairfield who died Thursday, May 10 at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield. Mr. Bloxom was born November 2, 1921 in Navasota to Monroe Dempsy and Robert Amy Hamilton Bloxom. He married Tommie Savage in Concord, Texas on August 8, 1942 and they shared more than 64 years together. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and spent time at Pearl Harbor, New Zealand, India and Africa. He worked for 12 years for Western Auto before going to work for Texas Utilities as a gas field operator for 22 years until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague for more than 62 years. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Steve Coward, Bro. Jack Bloxom and Bro. Paul Gauntt officiating. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Mr. Bloxom is survived by his wife, Tommie Bloxom of Fairfield; his son, Mack Bloxom of Fairfield; his grandson, Jarred Bloxom of Waco; Two step- grandchildren, Kristen Roberts and Adam Wood; two step-great-grandchildren, Jonathan Roberts and Hayden Roberts; One brother, Jack Bloxom and wife Janie of Conway, Arkansas; a sister-in-law, Hazel Bloxom of Teague; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters, and two brothers.
