Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder Opal Moree (Brunson) Bonner Funeral services were held Sunday in Corsicana for Opal Moree Bonner, 93, of Corsicana who died Thursday, April 12 at Heritage Oaks West. Mrs. Bonner was born October 17, 1913 in Groesbeck, the oldest of 12 children born to O.R. and Emmie Russell Brunson. She married James A. Bonner on September 29, 1933 in Corsicana. The couple made their home in the Navarro county community of Winkler where they engaged in farming and ranching for 58 years. The couple moved to Corsicana in 1991. Mrs. Bonner was a charter member of the Jose Antonio Navarro Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and the Col. Roger Q. Mills Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a dedicated member of New Hope Baptist Church near Winkler-St. Elmo for more than 65 years. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. at Corley Funeral Chapel, with Bro. Doug Welborn and Bro. Elton McCann officiating. Burial was at St. Elmo Cemetery in Winkler, with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Bonner is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Charles Eakes of Streetman; son and daughter-in-law, Preston and Verna Bonner of Corsicana; granddaughter Beverly Genell and husband Tom Dartez of Houston; granddaughter Erintha Susan and husband Wayne McQueen of Manvel; grandson Lowry Wayne and wife Mackie Bonner of Lorena; grandson Jesse Ray and wife Lisa Bonner of Coppell; grandson Pressly D. and wife Jasmine Bonner of Fate; eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Bertha Strange of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Sue Pryor of Rouge River, Oregon; and Ollene Bundrant of Poteet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
