Obituary for Mary Katherine (McAdams) Bonner

Mary Katherine McAdams, daughter of Alvin Floyd McAdams and Myrtis Childs, was 
born in the Mt. Zion community about 5 miles east of Fairfield in Freestone County, 
Texas on March 2, 1932. Her parents had twelve children who lived to maturity, 
and Mary was next to youngest. She grew up in the Mt. Zion community and attended 
Fairfield schools. 

Mary married Walter Wirt Bonner, son of Wirt Knox Bonner and Mattie Emma Weaver, 
on April 3, 1948 in Teague, Texas. She made her home in Teague for the remainder 
of her life and attended First Methodist Church. She and Walter raised three 
children, Vicky Margo, Danny Weldon, and Tambra Lee, and shared 41 years of married 
life before his death in 1989. 

Mary McAdams Bonner died July 5, 2018 in Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death 
by her husband, Walter Wirt Bonner; her parents; six brothers, Ellis McAdams, 
Marshall McAdams, Milton McAdams, Richard McAdams, Jack McAdams, and Bobby McAdams; 
five sisters, Myrtle Walthall, Callie Brown, Verdie Cannon, Ruby Bess Willard, 
and Dot Orand.

Graveside services for Mary Bonner were held on Monday, July 9, 2018, at 10:00 
a.m. at Bonner Cemetery with Rev. Richard Gillet officiating. She was survived 
by two daughters, Vicky B. Davis of Tyler, Tambra Scott & husband Mark of Cypress; 
one son, Danny Weldon Bonner & wife Gay of Houston; seven grandchildren, Marty 
Davis, Mika Mills, Danny Weldon Bonner, Jr. & wife Stephanie, Steven Bonner & wife 
Jarah, Laura Bonner, Rob Scott & wife Sara, Jacob Scott; three great-grandchildren, 
Bleston Mills, Knox Bonner, Carson Jane Bonner; numerous nieces, nephews and other 
relatives.
