Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder - May 18, 2006 edition [Jerry Wilson] J. W. Bottoms II Funeral services for J. W. Bottoms II were held Monday at Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague with Mac Roller and Paul Gauntt officiating. Interment followed at Fairfield Cemetery. Mr. Bottoms died Friday in Freestone at the age of 33. He was born February 12, 1973 in Teague to J. W. Bottoms, Sr. and Sherry Harris Pate. He was a mechanic for his uncle Robert at Harris Garage and Wrecker service. From a young age Mr. Bottoms enjoyed breaking items only so he could fix them, something he often did to impress his family. He was a member of Round Prairie Baptist Church in Fairfield and will be missed by his family. Mr. Bottoms married his high school sweetheart Michelle Severtson on December 4, 1999. Surviving Mr. Bottoms are his wife, Michelle Bottoms of Fairfield; father J. W. Bottoms, Sr. and wife Darla of Fairfield; mother Sherry Pate and husband Jimmy of Buffalo; sisters Bridget Gauntt and husband Dean of Teague, Jennifer Pate of Buffalo and Kelly Mudge of Fairfield and brothers Mitchell Pate of Buffalo and Steven Rogers and wife Jenny of Austin. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Bryan and Vanessa Smith of Fairfield; brother-in-law Aaron Neptune and wife Amy; sisters-in-law Lisa Neptune and Danielle Pretzer; grandparents-in-law Richard and Betty Benavides; nephews and niece Brad, Zach and Kenlee Gauntt; special uncle and aunt Robert and Theressa Harris of Freestone and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Casket bearers were Byran Smith, Trent Harris, Steve Casey, Byron Awalt, Aaron Neptune and Dennis Skinner. Honorary casket bearers were Shannon Sims, Clint Silar, Mitchell Pate, Zach Gauntt and Brad Gauntt. Arrangements were by Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. ============================================================== Fairfield Recorder 5/18/2006 Truck-cycle wreck kills Fairfield man A 33-year-old Fairfield man died Friday morning when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a pickup truck on FM 80 at Freestone Community. Killed in the wreck was Jerry Wilson Bottoms II. Cited by Department of Public Safety Trooper Tommy Lyons on a charge of failure to yield right-of-way was Donald Leroy Stirton, 76, of Donie. Stirton was southbound on FM 80 when he turned his 2002 Chevrolet pickup left into the parking lot of Freestone Community Center, and into the path of Bottoms, riding a 1980 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle, Lyons reports. The motorcycle struck the left front of the pickup, the trooper notes. Bottoms was pronounced dead at the scene by Peace Justice Al Samons. The Fairfield man, who worked as a mechanic at Harris Garage and Wrecker Service in Teague, is survived by his wife, Michelle. Funeral services were held Monday at Eighth Avenue Baptist Church of Teague.
