Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Modene (Platt) Brabham September 12, 1915 - September 19, 2010 Modene Platt Brabham was born September 12, 1915 to John and Lois Mae Platt in Latexo, Texas. She graduated to glory on September 19, 2010. Her long and full life was made up of many devotions. She was devoted to her husband and soulmate, C.L. “Brab” Brabham, until he died in 1993. She was devoted to her five children, their spouses, her seven grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. She was devoted to her friends and to a life that always included room for a visitor or two or 12. She was devoted to her favorite sport - baseball - and the team she loved - the Texas Rangers. Modene was very gifted and talented in her long life, being involved in leadership in the PTA plus a long-standing member of the Republican Women in Fairfield, Texas. She also had a great love for animals - cows, horses, cats and dogs, especially Angel, Lady and Tabby (the cat). Most of all, however, she was devoted to her Savior, Jesus. She loved His church as her family. She always sought to include, not exclude and she would remember your name from the first time she met you. She did that because, to her, everyone was special. Those who knew her loved her. Those who loved her will miss her. Those who knew her love for her God, rest in the comfort that she has gone to be with Him in glory for eternity. Her unbounded love will be missed, but we all look with hope to the reunion with her in the life to come. Modene is survived by all five of her children: Larry Brabham, Brenda Gibbs, Sandy Terry, Marilyn Holland and Donna Lange and her dear sister and brother-in- law, Rosie and John Simmons. Also her four children-in-law: Ann Brabham, Bob Gibbs, Phil Terry and Ron Holland. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Michelle Brabham, Kenny Brabham, Bryce Gibbs, John Terry, Shelley Park, Sara Holland and Meghann Jones. Modene had six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Church of Christ at 700 Post Oak Road in Fairfield.
