Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder - March 10, 1899 Steward's Mill Locals March 7, 1899 Mr. Brewer, of Brewer Prairie, was buried in Stewards Mill cemetery last Friday afternoon. ------------------------------ Fairfield Recorder - March 10, 1899 Death of Wm. Brewer Mr. William Brewer was born in Henry Co., Georgia in 1832, was an exemplary son. In 1850 he was married to Miss Mary Fergason. To them was born six sons and eight daughters, who are now widely scattered. He moved to Tallapoosa County, Alabama in 1853. In 1887, in May, he landed in Freestone County, Texas where he remained afterward. His wife died in 1892. In 1894 he was married to Mrs. Ollie Jester from whom he was separated by death on the 2nd inst. Deceased was not in the best of health for some time. During the night of the 1st inst., he was taken with a chill, and his physician being called, pronounced his illness meningitis. Another physician who has had large experience with meningitis in and around Fairfield eight years ago, was phoned for. He confirmed the diagnois. Mr. Brewer died at 1 pm. His remains were interred at Steward's Mill by the side of his first wife. One by one the landmarks are taken away. Well it becomes us to keep eternal vigil; for the great Reaper's ever near.
