Freestone County, Texas Obituaries [This is Judd Wilson Brown.] The Teague Chronicle - Feb 18, 2010 issue JUDD W. BROWN Funeral services for Mr. Judd W. Brown, 92, will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Kenneth Henbest will officiate. Judd was born to Frank T. and Bertha Goad Brown in Cherokee County on February 18, 1917, and grew up there as well as in Leon and Freestone Counties. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in California. Mr. Brown returned to Texas after his military service and married Callie McAdams on June 26, 1945, and made their home in Teague. He worked as a truck driver hauling fresh produced and firewood for some time before beginning his career selling janitorial supplies for a company in Tyler and then for C&B Chemical Co. in Houston. In 1960, Mr. Brown founded his own company, Bro-Co Brown Chemical Company in Teague. He operated it until 1983 when he sold the business to Bob Talley of Mexia. As a Teague business owner, he was active in numerous civic organizations including the Teague Industrial Foundation, a past president of the Teague Chamber of Commerce, and a past president of the Teague Rotary Club. He loved farm and ranch work and raised cattle for over fifty years. His favorite past times were playing forty-two with his family and watching Tom Landry’s Dallas Cowboys. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and presently a member of the Freestone Church of Christ. Mr. Brown passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Joel Brown and Manley Brown; and his sister Alice Lively. He is survived by his wife of over sixty-four years, Callie McAdams Brown of Teague; his daughters Linda Buchanan and husband Ed of Elgin and Joy Bowers and husband Bill David of Teague; his grandson Brian David Bowers and wife Julie of Teague; his granddaughters Amy Buchanan of Elgin, Christina Bowers Mims and husband Ritchie of Teague and Julie Buchanan of Austin; his great grandchildren Allyson Bowers, Austin Mims, Bo David Bowers, Brendan Cole Mims and Blake David Bowers; his brothers Howard Brown of Corsicana and Marvin Brown and wife Ruth of Teague; his sisters Bessie McCaig of Teague and Mona Lee Cole of Cleveland; his sister-in-law Peggy Brown of Teague; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
