Freestone County, Texas Obits Amarillo Online Newspapers 16 Dec 1998 Columbus Bryant SHAMROCK - Columbus Bryant, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with Gary Thomas and Warren Coble, both of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Bowers Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Bryant was born in Freestone County. He farmed in the Dozier and Samnorwood communities for many years. In 1975, he retired and moved to Shamrock. He was a member and deacon of St. James Baptist Church. He married Elnora Harris in 1951 at Wellington. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Bryant, in 1993. Survivors include his wife; two sons, C.B. Bryant of Shamrock and John Paul Bryant of Stockton, Calif.; seven daughters, Gladys Menefield and Ethel Angton, both of Shamrock, Peggy Bryant of Stockton, and Ada Asante, Mable Dickson, Mattie Bryant and Mary Burley, all of Amarillo; a sister, Katie Betts of Wortham; 25 grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren.
