Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Teague Chronicle October 13, 2009 edition VERA (BELDIN) BURLESON Funeral services for Vera Burleson, 87, of Mexia, Texas, were held on Sunday, August 9, 2009, at Blair-Stubbs Chapel. Reverend Ed Ridge officiated with interment following the service at the Birdston Cemetery in Streetman, Texas. Vera was born on January 22, 1922, in Streetman, Texas, to John Travis and Zellie Chapman Beldin. She married Thomas L. Burleson on April 11, 1944. They only had 27 years together before he passed away. Vera loved children. She was blessed with six children, however, she touched the lives of the many other children that she babysat. She worked for many years as a Foster Grandparent at the Mexia State School. Vera was a very loving and devoted mother, grandmother and sister. She passed away on Friday, August 7, 2009, in Groesbeck, Texas. Vera Burleson was preceded in death by her parents; her sons Jerry Burleson and Jeff Burleson; one grandson Jerry Gene Burleson; her brothers Travis Beldin and Henry Beldin and her sister Velma Chapman. Vera is survived by her daughters Barbara Kennedy and husband Jerry Lee of Mexia, Kathy Burleson of Waco and Margie Parks and husband John of Mexia; her son Mark Burleson of Mexia; her grandchildren Leanne Richardson, Michael Burleson, Julie Frazier, Sharon Pelham, Chris Jones, J.J. Rand, Holly Cox, Brittney Burleson and Lauren Cox; and her sisters Leona Giles and Faye Gaines both of Corsicana. Pallbearers were Barry Richardson, Edward Frazier, Keith Rand, Jackson Richardson, Zachery Richardson and Shane Pelham.
