Burleson, age 65, life-long resident of Freestone Ash Street, between Fourth and county, died at his home on Fifth Avenues, last Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, following a long illness due to a nervous breakdown. Many years abo [sic] Mr. Burleson lost the sight of one eye, and last year year ["year" was repeated] the sight of his other eye gradually went away, and it was believed by his friends that the knowledge he would soon be blind contributed largely toward the nervous breakdown. Mr. Burleson was born in Freestone county, near the present location of the town of Streetman, Jun 11, 1862. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church, a devout Christian, upright during his long and useful life, highly esteemed by all who knew him. His church membership was in the Eighth Avenue Baptist Church of Teague. Funeral and burial services were conducted at the Cotton Gin cemetery Monday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock by Rev. G. H. Vaughan, Baptist minister of Jacksonville, in the presence of a large assembly of sorrowing relatives and lifelong friends. - News.
