Freestone County, Texas Obits Corsicana Daily Sun newspaper - Sept 8, 2004 edition Robert (Bobby) Frederick Burleson Robert (Bobby) Frederick Burleson, 67, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Deetz and Dr. David Hale officiating. Interment will follow at Dresden Cemetery in Dresden. Pallbearers will be members of the Commemorative Air Force, Corsicana Chapter. Mr. Burleson was born Oct. 27, 1936, in Streetman. Mr. Burleson was a member of the Baptist church -- affiliated with Town East Baptist Church of Mesquite and Northside Baptist Church of Corsicana, and was part of the Sr. Choir. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the NGAT (retired National Guard) 34 years, and the Commemorative Air Force, Corsicana Chapter. He had a real love of life and lived it to the fullest. He was known as a real thrill seeker. His adventures included years of race car driving, sky diving and repelling down cliffs. He traveled to Germany and Puerto Rico with the military and more recently to Alaska and the Caribbean, with his loving wife. He was a member of the Burleson Family Association, and was in the first class of the Corsicana Citizens Police Academy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Willie Helen Burleson; and brother-in-law, Nolan Whitfield and childhood friend. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Martha Jo (Coker) Burleson of Corsicana; son, Eric Burleson of Dallas; daughter, Melissa Rae Burleson of Payne Springs; grand-daughter, Nicole Wheeler of Payne Springs; grandson, Robert Eric Wheeler of Mesquite; grand-daughter, Sarah Loftis of Payne Springs; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Ann and Olen Rich of Mesquite; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Lee Roberts of Garland; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and a big host of friends.
