Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Bryan - College Station Eagle - February 20, 2002 edition Larry Lee Burleson March 13, 1918 — Feb. 18, 2002 Graveside services for Larry Lee Burleson, 83, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Mart Cemetery in Mart, Texas. The Rev. W.H. “Bill” Smith will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Mr. Burleson died Monday at Bryton Inn Health Center in College Station. He was born in Streetman, Texas, and had lived in Bryan since 1951. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II in the Pacific Theater and worked for the Texas Agriculture Extension Service, retiring in 1974. After graduating from Mart High School, Mr. Burleson earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M University. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church and a member of the Farm Bureau, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Brazos County Senior Citizens and Still Creek Ranch and participated in Meals on Wheels. His active retirement included real estate brokerage and ranching. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Punchard Burleson of Bryan; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry Lee and Sandra Burleson of Centennial, Colo., a daughter and son-in-law, Melinda Ann and John Lee Box of Bryan; two brothers; and four grandchildren.
