Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Teague Chroncile - Sept. 13, 2012 issue Pearlie Mae Burnett Funeral services for Ms. Pearlie Mae Burnett, 82, were held Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. Pearlie Mae Burnett was born January 6, 1930 to the late Charlie Lewis and Azilee Gilmore in Grapeland, Texas, and went to be with the Lord at her residence in Houston, Texas on August 23, 2013. She graduated from high school in Teague, Texas in 1947 and moved to Houston, Texas in the 1950s. Pearlie was united in Holy Matrimony to Robert Lee Burnett on May 14, 1959. In her lifetime, six children were born: Ruby, Patricia, Kenneth, Linda, Laurie, and Pamela. She was a very devoted wife and mother Pearlie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for forty-one years, and she served faithfully. She helped establish the Junior Ushers where she worked closely with children to organize the service to the youth and junior ushers. Pearlie worked as a supervisor of housekeeping at Lamar Hotel for many years. To continue her commitment to children, she changed her occupation to work at the University of Houston's Child Development Center for over 10 years. Pearlie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, four sisters and two brothers. She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Ms Ruby Byrd, Mr. Kenneth Burnett, Mrs. Linda (Anthony) Stubblefield, Ms Laurie Washington, and Ms. Pamela Anderson all of Houston TX, one sister Ms. Helen Johnson of Mexia, TX, fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Eulogist was Rev. Andrew Brown and burial was in Houstons Memorial Gardens, Pearland, Texas. Pearly Gates Funeral Home in Mexia was in charge of the service.
