Busby, Sr., 91 on Saturday, December 18, 2010 in the Parkview Regional Hospital, Mexia among devoted family and loving friends. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, December 22, at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home, with Cleo Phillips, officiating and interment was in the Grove Island Cemetery in Teague with Full Military Funeral Honors by The Ft. Hood U.S. Army Troop. The Army Troop also served as pallbearers. Mr. Busby was born October 10, 1919 in the Furney Richardson Community of Freestone County, and attended the public schools there. He married Joyce G. Phillips in Teague and had been a member of the Ford Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Mexia. He retired after more than 30 years in the U.S. Army. After retirement, he worked in the Food Service Department of Mexia State School. He was married to Oillie Fay Warren Busby at the time of his death. His hobbies were hunting and fishing and tinkering with electricity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Roberta Means Busby; three brothers: R.C., Joe and Melvin Busby; a Sister, Ava Busby; a daughter, Brenda Busby and a son, Billie Roy High. He is survived by his wife, Ollie Fay Busby, Mexia; sons: John E. Carter and wife, Katie, Teague; Arthur D. Busby, Jr and wife, Ann, Dallas; daughter: Portia Lindsey and friend, Majoree Banks, Jr,, Teague; stepdaughter, Eula Faye Pruitt and husband, Don, Dallas; 8 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
