Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Mexia Daily News - March 12, 2007 edition Cora Evelyn Butler WORTHAM - Mrs. Cora Evelyn Butler, 96, of Corsicana, and formerly of Wortham, passed away March 6, 2007. Funeral services will be held Friday morning, March 9, 2007, at 11 o’clock in First United Methodist Church in Wortham, with the Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Wortham Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at Porter Chapel in Wortham. Evelyn was born in the Rushing community near Wortham on June 6, 1910, to Oscar and Cora Miller. She married Ralph Butler on May 15, 1937. They were married 56 years and lived in Wortham until his death in 1993. Most of her life was spent being a wife and mother. She and Ralph had four children. She helped her husband at his Gulf Service Station and later with ranching. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Wortham until she moved to Corsicana to live with her daughter, June Ingham. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; by four sisters, and four brothers. She is survived by her children - Mack Butler and wife Stella, Kay Roark and husband Stanley, Blanche Hamilton and husband Dwain, and June Ingham; two sisters, Trixie Murphy of Wortham and Jackie Arp of Spring; grandchildren - Diana Homan, Melanie Maynard, Larry Butler, Joe Butler, Derrick Hamilton, Vance Hamilton, Pam Koch, Steve Roark and Sam Ingham; 14 great-grandchildren - Michael, Kevin, Josh, David, Heather, Carmen, Harrison, Cheyene, Indy, Keaton, Alec, Blake, Tess and Evan; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and “84” players. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Evelyn was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed, but will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
