Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Teague Chronicle January 10, 2008 edition ESTELLE CAGLE Funeral services for Mrs. Estelle Cagle, 88, were held on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Steve Cowart officiated and interment followed at Union Cemetery near Freestone. Mrs. Cagle passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2008, at the Teague Nursing Home. She lived all of her life in Freestone County and the Teague area. Mrs. Cagle was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a longtime faithful member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church. From July of 1931, and throughout her seventy-six years of church membership, she taught Sunday school, was active in W.M.A., benevolence programs, ladies ministry, sang in the choir, and was the church organist for some forty years. Mrs. Cagle was also an avid supporter of Jacksonville Baptist College. She is survived by her sons John Cagle and wife Joan Shadix of San Antonio and Carl W. Cagle, Jr. of Dallas; her grandson Jason Cagle of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; her granddaughters Angela Cagle Long of Cleburne and Jeanette Cagle Donley of San Antonio; six great grandchildren. Her sisters Doris Woods of Fairfield and Beatrice Bulin and husband Tracy of Teague; her brother Gary Stephenson of Fairfield; other relatives and friends also survive Mrs. Cagle. She was preceded in death by her husband Homer Cagle; her son Carl W. Cagle, Sr.; her grandson Randy Cagle and her parents Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Stephenson. Pallbearers for Mrs. Cagle were J.W. Fitzgerald, Terry Sartor, Gerald Fulton, Jason Hullum, Eddie Gilbert and Rollie Winfree. Honorary pallbearers were Leroy Sentor, J.E. Evans and W.C. Barger. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Jacksonville Baptist College, 105 B.J. Albritton Dr., Jacksonville, TX 75766. A lifelong resident of Freestone county, Mrs. Cagle was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague. She joined Eighth Avenue in July of 1931 and during her 76 years of membership she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, played the organ and participated in W.M.A., benevolence programs and ladies ministry. Mrs. Cagle was also an avid supporter of Jacksonville Baptist College. Services were at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5 at Eighth Avenue Baptist Church with Steve Cowart officiating. Burial was at Union Cemetery. Mrs. Cagle is survived by sons John Cagle and wife Joan Shadix of San Antonio and Carl W. Cagle, Jr. of Dallas; daughters Angela Cagle Long of Cleburne and Jeanette Cagle Donley of San Antonio; grandson Jason Cagle of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; six great grandchildren; sisters Doris Woods of Fairfield and Beatrice Bulin and husband Tracy of Teague; and brother Gary Stephenson of Fairfield.
