Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Mexia Daily News - Jan. 2, 2004 edition Ruth (Watson) Calame CORSICANA - Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Watson Calame, 90, of Corsicana, will be this afternoon at 2 o'clock in Corley Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. David Hale will officiate, and burial will be in Wortham Cemetery. Mrs. Calame, born May 5, 1913, in Steward's Mill (Freestone County), died Wednesday in Corsicana. She was born the second daughter of William Terry and Ada McAdams Watson, members of a pioneer Freestone County family. Mrs. Calame, who attended Steward's Mill school and graduated from Wortham High School in 1929, attended what then was North Texas State Teachers College and the University of Texas. She was married to Alvis Calame in 1935, and they resided in Dallas for 40 years. She worked as a Secretary until her retirement from the J.F. Stevens Company in 1974, was a member of the Scofield Memorial Church and the Scoberrean Study Club. She and Alvis moved to Corsicana in 1977 and attended Northside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a sister, Leola Watson.
