Freestone County, Texas Obits Groesbeck Journal December 1, 2005 Eugenia Fay (Taylor) Campbell Funeral Services Held November 29 Mrs. Eugenia Fay Campbell, 79, of Mexia passed away Saturday, November 26, 2005 in Mexia. Mrs. Campbell, a longtime Mexia resident was born May 9, 1926. She and her husband, Seth had operated several businesses in Mexia before she went to work for the Mexia State School where she retired. Mrs. Campbell is survived by her husband of 61 years - Seth Campbell; her son, Leslie Wayne Campbell of Mexia; daughter, Anita Ann Goswick of Mexia; She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kimberly Goswick, Richard Goswick, Jr., Pam Glover, Jeana McDade and Wayne Campbell; brother, J.W. Taylor of Mexia; sisters, Eunice Lane of Shiloh and Mary Ann Shamblin of Pt. Enterprise. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 29 at Temple Baptist Church in Mexia. The Reverend Michael Vestal officiated with interment following in the Wortham cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Goswick, Jr., Wayne Campbell, Sonny Lane, James David Shamblin, Steve Henderson and Eugene Campbell. Mrs. Campbell, a longtime Mexia resident, was born in Jewett on May 9, 1926. She and her husband, Seth, had operated several businesses in Mexia before she went to work for the Mexia State School, from where she retired after 16 and a half years of service. This was the job she enjoyed. She loved to take care of clients, and would sew clothes for them. Mrs. Campbell was known as a very kind, loving and giving woman who will be missed dearly by her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her father, Hiram Taylor, and by her mother, Mrs. Viva Taylor. Mrs. Campbell is survived by her husband of over 61 years, Seth Campbell of Mexia; a son, Leslie Wayne Campbell, Sr., of Mexia; a daughter, Anita Ann Goswick of Mexia. She is also survived by her grandchildren - Kimberly Goswick, Richard Goswick, Pam Glover, Jeana McDade and Wayne Campbell, Jr., all of Mexia; six great-grandchildren; a brother, J.W. Taylor of Mexia; and by two sisters - Eunice Lane of Shiloh and Mary Ann Shamblin of Point Enterprise. The Campbells spent most of their years living on Tyler Street in Mexia. Mrs. Campbell loved to work and loved to help and to take care of others. She and Mr. Campbell owned and operated the old movie theater, known as the Liberty Theater. They also owned and operated a washateria and laundry service on Belknap Street. Pallbearers are Richard Goswick, Jr., Wayne Campbell, Sonny Lane, James David Shamblin, Steve Henderson and Eugene Campbell. Funeral services for Mrs. Campbell will be this afternoon, Nov. 29, 2005, at 2 o’clock in Temple Baptist Church-Mexia. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael Vestal, pastor. Burial will be in Wortham Cemetery, under direction of Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
