Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Sue (McKenzie) Nash Carroll January 26, 1926 - January 16, 2012 Sue Nash Carroll, 85, of Fairfield, went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 16, 2012 in Fairfield. Mrs. Carroll was born January 26, 1926 in Tennessee Colony, to parents Sidney and Artie Gage McKenzie. Sue married Art Nash and they made their home in Edinburg. After his death she attended cosmetology school. She then married Wayne Carroll and started her business in Fairfield which she operated until retirement due to illness. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fairfield and in the later years became a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. She was a member of the “Pink Ladies” for several years serving as Secretary, Vice-President and President. She was a great fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Fairfield Eagles. She loved her family and “Misty” her dog, very much. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Art Nash and Wayne Carroll; brothers and sisters, Murphy McKenzie; Ruth Moser; Audrey McKenzie; Martin McKenzie; a son, David Nash. Pallbearers are Roland Hardy, Darin McKenzie, Kevin McKenzie, Scottie Nash, Brandon Nash and Cindy Hardy. Honorary bearers are Ronnie McKenzie, Gary McKenzie, Greg Hardy, Jeff Smithers and Bryan McKenzie. Left to cherish her memory is a son, Stanley Nash of Fairfield; brothers, S. L. McKenzie, Jr. of Richland Hills; Austin “Aussie” McKenzie and wife Mary of Hurst; Jerry McKenzie and wife Kathy of Longview; a sister, Shirley McKenzie Hardy of Huntsville; grandsons, Brandon Nash and Scott Nash both of Whitehouse and John David Nash; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
