D.V. Carroll Dead.

D. V. Carroll (Uncle Dave as he was familiarly known to his many friends) died 
at his home in Fairfield, Tuesday night, March 20. Uncle Dave had been in ill 
health for a long time and his death was not unexpected.

We are not prepared to write a long obituary of the dead, nor do we think it is 
necessary, and in the death of Mr. Carroll we will only say that he was one of 
the few left who fought and suffered for the Lost Cause. He was a man of strict 
honor and integrity and while misfortune had visited him in his last years, he 
always bore his burdens uncomplaining. He came to Freestone county just after 
the war. His remains were interred in the Driver cemetery.
