Mexia Daily News - Oct. 11, 2005 edition Jeane F. Carroll TEAGUE - Jeane F. Carroll, 74, longtime Teague resident, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at Teague Nursing Home. A Memorial service will be held Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 12, 2005, at 2 o’clock in First United Methodist Church of Teague. The Rev. Jeff Powers will officiate. Arrangements are under direction of Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home. Mrs. Carroll, born in Seguin to George Raymond and Ruth Burney Mulcahy, moved, as a child, with her family to Teague, and graduated from Teague High School in 1949. For many years, she was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Teague, where she taught Sunday School, served on various church boards and committes, was active in the Methodist Women’s projects, and was best known for taking care of the nursery for many years. She loved to take care of everyone and was lovingly known as “Maw-Maw” to many in the Teague and Fairfield areas. She also served as a “pink lady” in the Teague General Hospital and volunteered for numerous community events. Mrs. Carroll is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cathleen and Bruce Griego of Huntsville; a son and daughter-in-law, John Robert (Bud) Carroll, Jr., and Susan of Longview; six grandchildren - Justin Carruthers of Mount Vernon, Jeffrey Carruthers of Teague, Stacy Pierson of San Antonio, Brandon Carroil of Round Rock, Brooke Hendley and Brad Carroll, both of Longview, and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Betty Alewine of Fairfield; a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Robert B. Mulcahy and Sylvia of Houston; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Mulcahy of League City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Carroll, Sr.; by her parents and a brother, George Raymond Mulcahy, Jr. The family will receive visitors this evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Teague.
