Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Corsicana Daily Sun - July 30, 2005 edition Mary Edith (Livingston) Carroll Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 29, 2005 at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village in Corsicana. Services will be on Sunday, July 31 at 3 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. in Fairfield. Burial will follow at Birdston Cemetery in Streetman. Edith was born Jan. 11, 1917 in Eureka to Mary Ella McNair and Homer Melvin Livingston. She grew up in the Cade community and attended Cade school. She graduated from Streetman High School in 1933. In 1935 she married Gordon Alexander Carroll. Edith was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Streetman where she was a Sunday school teacher and was one of two women made elders in the church in 1976. She is survived by three children: daughter Deanne Vandiver and husband Don of Ennis, son Donald Carroll and wife Linda and daughter Sherrie Minze and husband Glenn, all of Streetman. Grandchildren: Kerry Vandiver and wife Karen; Steve Vandiver and wife Teresa; Jeff Minze and wife Tammy; Bret Carroll and wife Stephanie; Jody Minze and wife Teresa; Amy Farrar and husband Chad; Gene Minze and wife Kelli. Great-grandchildren: Christi Oakes and husband Tommy; Courtney, Chase and Chelsea Vandiver; Cooper Vandiver; Cullen, Colby, Morgan, Mason and Aaron Minze; Jake, Jordan and Josh Farrar and Cade Carroll. Sister: Nell Milner and husband Harris Wilson of Streetman; and brothers-in-law Bill Emerson of Streetman and Richard Steele of Tyler; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, siblings: Durward Schley, Frances, Vee, Florene, Johnnie and Kenneth. Arrangements by Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
