Sam Carter
Sep. 23, 1928 - Mar. 17, 2002

Services for Sam Carter, 73, of Kirvin will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First 
Baptist Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Louie Jones officiating. Burial will 
follow at Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Capps Memorial Chapel. 

Mr. Carter died Sunday in Kirvin. 

He was born Sept. 23, 1928 in Wortham. 

Mr. Carter was a carpenter. He was a member of Kirvin Baptist Church and a member 
of Cotton Gin Lodge No. 154. He served in the United States Navy during World 
War II. 

Mr. Carter is survived by daughters, Sammie Faye Turner of Kirvin, Christine 
Owsley of Terrell and Mary Adams of Richardson; son, Fred Lance Carter of Kirvin; 
nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Thomas Roberson, Keith Roberson, Corey Current, Michael 
Carter, Robbie Castlow, Jeremy Davis, Jonathen Allred and Blair Casey. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Robinson, Fred Latham, Clint Sutton, Rodney 
Latham, Michael Roberson and Ken Sessions. 

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Capps Memorial Chapel. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the building fund of 
Kirvin Baptist Church.
