Freestone County, Texas Obituaries WILLIAM ALVIN CARTWRIGHT Funeral services for Mr. William Alvin Cartwright will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at the Fairfield Church of Christ. Bro. Jason Schick will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Union Cemetery near Freestone. Visitation will be held prior to the services on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Fairfield Church of Christ. Mr. Cartwright passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at Baylor-Scott and White Medical Center in Waco. He was born in Teague on November 30, 1929, and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Cartwright worked as an Engineer for the BNSF Railroad in Teague for over thirty- three years from December 1950 until taking an early retirement due to his health in April 1984. He married Alice on May 7, 2005, and shared over nine years together. He enjoyed volunteering in the community for many years, especially at the Senior Citizen’s Center. Mr. Cartwright was a member of the Fairfield Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Alice Newsom Cartwright of Teague; four daughters, Debra Vines and husband Larry of Cleveland, TN, Cindy McKay and husband David of Austin, Sandra Amerson and husband Michael of Houston, and Angie Cartwright Brown and husband Troy of Teague; four step-daughters, Deb Raney and husband Byron of Dickinson, Alynn Mitchell and husband Randy of Mt. Calm, Aniece Newsom of Hubbard, and Amy Isbell and husband Gary of Coolidge; one step-son, A’Neil Newsom and wife Jinger of Evansville, TN; numerous grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jimmie Henry of Ganado, and Francis Martin of Dallas; other relatives and friends. Mr. Cartwright was preceded in death by his parents, William Andy and Beatrice Cartwright; and one grandson, Michael Schuler.
