CATE, ETHEL S.

Mrs. Ethel S. Cate, 89, of Mexia passed away at a Mexia hospital on Aug. 13, 
1997. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Aug. 14, 1997, at Blair-Stubbs Chapel in 
Mexia with the Rev. James Hooper officiating. Burial will follow at Wortham 
Cemetery. She was a retired ward attendant at the Mexia State School and a 
member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Dorcas Sunday School Class and the 
Glorious Group at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd 
Cate; and a son, Nelson Fletcher Cate. Survivors include two daughters, Patsy 
Beatty of Waco and Pam Glidewell of Robinson; two sons, Gail Cate and Lyndon 
Cate, both of Mexia; three sisters, Ida Wright of Kilgore, Birdie Webb of 
Lubbock and Geraldine Sartor of Kilgore; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-
grandchildren.
