Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Mexia Daily News - March 14, 2007 edition Joann Allen Chambers Funeral services for Mrs. Joann Allen Chambers, of Waco, will be Saturday afternoon, March 10, 2007, in First Baptist Church, 500 East Carthage, Mexia. Officiating will be the Rev. Howard McLean, Sr., pastor of Smith Chapel Primitive Baptist Church of Wortham, and the Rev. Carlos Daniels, pastor of Faith Tabernacle Ministries of Palestine. Interment will be in Wortham Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, March 9, 2007, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home, 406 Monroe Street, Teague. Mrs. Chambers, born February 27, 1957, died Friday, March 2, 2007, at her residence. She formerly lived in Wortham, Palestine, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was a Certified Chemical Abuse Counselor and was Mexia Nursing Home Activities Coordinator. Mrs. Chambers was a member of Smith Chapel Primitive Baptist Church of Wortham, and St. Luke AME Church of Waco. Surviving are a son, Chad Betts of Wortham; two daughters, Peaches Ross and husband James, and Taliza (Lisa) Betts, all of Palestine; two brothers, Bobby Joe Allen of Fort Worth and E.W. Hall of Houston; two sisters, Willie Mae Thomas of Mexia and Judy Chambers of Fort Worth; five grandchildren - Brittney Betts of Arlington, Annie Anthony, Jordan Anthony nad Jamie Ross of Palestine, and Maxwell Antwond Anthony Burrell, Jr., of Teague; a special friend, Ronald (Blackie) Gonner, and a host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Damien Hall, Fredrick Hall, Sederick Hall, Deltrich Milus, Tracy Garrett, Jamal Henry and Almalonzo Hall.
