DEATH OF AN AGED CITIZEN

Bro. J. A. Chavers, aged 75, died at the home of his son, Sim Chavers three
miles south of Fairfield last Tuesday evening at 7:30.

Burial was in the Post Oak Cemetery the following afternoon. Eld H. L.
McKissick and R. L. Ryburn conducting services.

Death followed a long period of illness caused by cancer. Bro. Chavers had been
a resident of Freestone County for nearly 50 years. Although not advanced as a
minister, he had been a preacher of the Gospel for about 35 years. He was a
consecrated christian and was highly respected by all who knew him.

Decease is survived by the following children: George Chavers, Tulia Texas, Ed
Chavers, Elida New Mexico, Mrs. Colin Wilson, New Mexico, Sim and Abe Chavers
of this vicinity
