Mexia Daily News - Mar. 26, 2005 edition Georgia Chavers Funeral services for Mrs. Georgia Alice Smith Chavers, 84, of Teague, will be conducted Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in Porter Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Freestone, Texas. Mrs. Chavers, who died Friday in Alvin, was born Jan. 30, 1921, to William and Viola Smith in Fairfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon Chavers, Sr.; a son, Gordon Chavers, Jr.; a granddaughter, Keri Ann Chavers, and by two brothers, Olin Smith and Calvin Smith. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at Porter Funeral Home. Georgia leaves to cherish loving memories, daughters Ruth Parker and Josephine Hough of Alvin; sons Charley Chavers and wife Mary of Angleton, and Floyd Chavers of Teague; her sister, Raye Lott of Fairfield; a daughter-in-law, Anita Richardson of Teague; grandchildren - Heather Richardson Chavers of Teague, Sherri Stearman of Corsicana, Garrett Hough of Alvin, Samantha Todd, Kerin Chavers and Charla Chavers, all of Angleton, James Richardson and wife Melinda of Mexia, Elizabeth Van Hook of Portland, Oregon; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
