Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Teague Chronicle August 16, 2007 ODIS DWAIN (O.D.) CHRISTIAN Funeral services for Rev. Dr. Odis Dwain (O.D.) Christian, 85, of Kirvin, Texas, were held on Saturday, August 11, 2007, at Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield, Texas. Rev. Jack McDaniel, Rev. Terry Skinner and Rev. Orval Barger conducted the services with interment at Woodland Cemetery in Kirvin, Texas. Rev. Christian was born on May 29, 1922, in Donie, Texas to H.O. and Lily Jolly Christian. He passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, in Groesbeck, Texas. Rev. Christian served in the United States Navy for three years. He earned a Divinity Degree from Jacksonville Baptist and a Doctorate in Pastoral Services from North American Theological Seminary. His first church was at Post Oak and he preached for 22 years at Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Teague. He also preached around the Dallas area and at the time of his retirement he had 50 years in the ministry. Rev. Christian was a 33rd Degree Mason, Past Master at Cotton Gin Lodge, Past District Deputy for the Masonic Lodge, Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star of Fairfield and Past Worthy Grand Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star of Texas. Rev. Christian is survived by his wife Francis Coleman Christian of Kirvin, his children Sarah Christian McGuffey and husband Ralph of Dallas, Jerry Christian and wife Kaye of Irving and Travis Christian and wife LaJuana of Spring, His grandchildren Betsy McGuffey Gooding and husband Brian of Pittsburg, Ralph McGuffey, Jr. of Dallas, Suzanne Christian Taylor and husband Tim of McKinney, Erin Christian of Irving, Chris Christian and wife Stephanie of Burleson and Cathey Haney and husband Michael of Tyler, 10 great grandchildren and his sister Mertis Eubanks of Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers for Rev. Christian were Bob Christian, David Christian, Dennis Christian, Ralph McGuffey, Jr., Chris Christian, Tim Taylor and Michael Haney.
