Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Frances Elizabeth (Coleman) Christian Frances Elizabeth Coleman Christian was born October 10, 1920 in Freestone County, Texas to Luther Clifford Coleman and Sarah Elizabeth Carter Coleman. She is a descendant of some of the earliest settler families in what became Freestone County - the Burleson, Carter, and Coleman families. She was a graduate of Kirvin High School where she played volleyball and sang in a girls’ quartet. She married Odis Dwain Christian on May 18, 1940 in Freestone County, Texas. She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Dallas from 1945 until 1976 when she retired and returned to Freestone County. She was also a faithful pastor’s wife throughout the ministry of her husband, Rev. O. D. Christian, serving as teacher, pianist, or organist in various churches where they ministered. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron of the Dal-Cliff Chapter in Dallas and the Fairfield Chapter in Fairfield, Grand Representative to Washington State, and in other roles during her more than fifty years in the OES. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Sallie Coleman; her husband, Rev. O. D. Christian; five brothers, John Alfred Coleman, David Randall Coleman, Clifford Edwin Coleman, James Wallace Coleman, and Furney Ansol Coleman. She is survived by her three children, Sarah Frances Christian McGuffey and her husband Ralph Wayne McGuffey of Dallas; Jerry Dwain Christian and his wife Kaye Eason Christian of Irving; and Travis Coleman Christian and his wife LaJuana Jean Petton Christian of Whitehouse, Texas. She is also survived by six grandchildren - four with spouses, twelve great-grandchildren - one with spouse, and one great-great-grandson. Other survivors include a brother, Joe Carter Coleman and Wife Mary Ann of Arlington, Texas; a sister, Floys Dean Coleman Little and husband Jerrell of Teague; sisters-in-law Judy Coleman and Anita Coleman of Fairfield, and Myrtis Eubanks of Dallas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She left a wonderful legacy of service to others and worship and praise to God, especially through music. Family Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 17, 2013 at Capps Memorial Chapel , 113 E. College St., Fairfield, Texas 75840. The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 18, 2013 at Capps Memorial Chapel with interment following at Woodland Cemetery near Kirvin in Freestone County, Texas.
