Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder May 13, 2010 edition Vessie Heggins Clark Services were held Friday, May 7, for Vessie Heggins Clark, 88, who died April 30 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. Viewing was May 6 at 10 a.m. at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home of Teague. Wake service was also held May 6. Funeral services were held at Mexia State School All Saints Chapel with Dr. Jacquetta Johnson Chambers and Rev. Kennen Jackson officiating. Interment was at Sandy Creek Cemetery of Coolidge. Mrs. Clark, born Oct. 9, 1921, was the seventh child of 12 children born to Joe and Clara Bennett Goodwin in Center, Texas. She had been a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Tehaucana and was a member of the St. Luke United Methodist Church, Mexia, at the time of her death. Mrs. Clark retired from Mexia State School as a direct care professional and was a current member of the Mexia State School Foster Grandparent Program. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, daughters Linda Jewell Clark and Clara Faye Heggins Bluitt; five sisters and five brothers. Surviving Mrs. Clark are her sons Ernest Heggins and wife, Pat, Sacramento, CA; James Heggins and wife, Peggy, Mexia, and Shelton Heggins and wife, DeEvelyn, Dallas; Daughters Gwendolyn Smith and husband, Wallace, Dallas; Rebecca Taulton and husband, Andrew, Mexia; Paulette Milton and husband, Sam, Palestine; and Felicia Clark Jackson, Austin; sister Clara Grayson, Ft. Worth; 16 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren; eight greatgreat grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home of Teague is serving the Clark family.
