Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder - 9 Jan 1891 edition Mr. C. C. Clark, the jeweler who has been in town several months died last Thursday night at Mr. A. Adkins. He had been in bad health several months with an affection of the kidney and bowels and for the last few weeks he failed very fast. Seeing his condition, Mr. Adkins kindly took him to his house and gave him all the attention he could knowing he was poor and needy. The deceased had relatives in Dawson and Americus, Georgia who heard of his condition and wrote to Mr. W. D. Pittman about him but their letters were not received until after he died. The deceased was rather reticent about his relatives and never talked much about them. Their whereabouts was learned only by writing to a jeweler in Americus, Georgia for whom Mr. Clark had worked. His aunt (who raised him) a cultivated and refined lady, wrote a feeling letter here about him saying she would soon send money for him to return to her. His remains were buried Wednesday in the Fairfield Cemetery.
