Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Doris Cunningham Clark September 24, 1945 - August 27, 2013 On September 24, 1945, a baby girl was bestowed upon Deriah Samuel Cunningham and Ervie Imogene Cunningham in Freestone County Texas. They named their beloved daughter Doris Faye Cunningham. Doris left her earthly home at the age of sixty- seven on Tuesday, August 27, 2013. Doris “Faye” grew up in Plum Creek Community of Freestone County Texas where she lived with her parents and seven brothers and sisters. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Teague, Texas in 1963. After graduation Doris moved to Fort Worth, Texas and was there a short time before she married and left Texas. While living in Denver, Colorado, Doris worked at Mercy Hospital and studied to become a nurse. In 1974, Doris began her career as an executive assistant with Dow Chemical Company where she worked until retirement. Doris united with Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Oakwood, Texas at an early age and continued to serve the Lord in Colorado, Michigan, and lastly at the Pentecostal Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. She was known for style, church involvement, and love for her family and friends. Doris married Hurlen Clark and they had one daughter, Amber Denise. Upon their retirement, they relocated to Missouri City, Texas where she lived until her death. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother: Horace Cunningham. She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter: Amber Clark of Missouri City, Texas; siblings: Hendrick (Joan) Cunningham of Fort Worth, Texas, Garvis (Ethel) Cunningham of Arlington, Texas, Julia (George) Dixon of Waco, Texas, Leondas Cunningham of Oakwood, Texas, Dena (Homer) Brown of Houston, Texas, Harold (Doris) Cunningham of San Antonio, Texas, Rev. Roderick (Robin) Cunningham of Dickinson, Texas; Aunts: Juanita Manning, Dorothy Doughtry, Annie Cunningham and Claudia Cunningham; special friends: Percy Singleton, The Hamilton Family of Missouri City, Texas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
